Montella is built to keep your Kanban board local. We avoid collecting personal data and ask only for the permissions needed to run in your new tab.
What we store
Your tasks, projects, columns, and settings are saved locally in your browser's storage using the Chrome Extension Storage API and localStorage. This data remains entirely on your device and is never transmitted to our servers. You control your data — you can export it as a JSON file at any time or delete it by removing the extension.
What we don't collect
Montella does not collect, transmit, or sell any personal data. We do not have access to your task content, project names, or any information you enter into the extension. We do not read your browsing history, page contents, cookies, or any data outside of the extension's own storage.
Permissions
Montella requests only the minimum permissions required to function. The extension uses the storage permission to save your data locally and the chrome_url_overrides capability to replace your new tab page. No additional site access, network requests, or background permissions are required.
Third-party services
The Montella extension itself does not communicate with any third-party services, APIs, or analytics platforms. Your data never leaves your browser. The only external connection is when you visit this marketing website, which is hosted on Firebase Hosting.
Analytics and tracking
We do not run tracking scripts, cookies, or analytics tools inside your new tab. The extension operates completely offline once installed. If optional, privacy-respecting analytics are ever added in the future, they will be clearly disclosed and opt-in only.
Security and your choices
Because all data is stored locally, your device security and browser profile protect it. We recommend keeping your browser up to date and using the built-in JSON export feature to maintain regular backups. You can clear all Montella data at any time by removing the extension from Chrome or clearing the extension's site data in your browser settings.
Children's privacy
Montella does not knowingly collect any information from children under 13. Since the extension does not collect any personal data from any user, there is no data to manage in this regard.
Changes to this policy
We may update this privacy policy as new features are added to Montella. Any changes will be reflected on this page with a revised description. Continued use of the extension after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
